We’re pleased and excited to introduce to you this newest edition of The Apostolate’s Family Catechism (a part of our Consecration in Truth® Catechetical Program). We consider it an extraordinary blessing that this catechism was originally endorsed by Cardinal Ratzinger before he became our dear Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. It has also been found to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church by the Ad Hoc Committee to Oversee the Use of the Catechism, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Like the three previous editions, this fourth edition of The Apostolate’s Family Catechism is readable and accessible to both the young and old alike. It contains many theological pictures and catechetical diagrams, and includes sections or references from Sacred Scripture, Vatican II documents, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Splendor of Truth. It also incorporates cross-references with the Pope Benedict's encyclicals' God is Love and Sacrament of Charity, John Paul II's Gospel of Life other papal documents and spiritual books including the CCC Compendium, and the US Catholic Catechism for Adults, which helps to facilitate the process of more deeply comprehending our rich Faith. Inspiring prayers, both English and Latin, are woven into each chapter. This family catechism will teach all ages, and can be passed on from generation to generation.

Some of the outstanding features of the 5th edition include:

• The By Heart Catechism is included at the end of each chapter part within a chapter

• Additional quotes from Sacred Scripture, Vatican II, papal documents and the Catechism of the Catholic Church;

•The inclusion of Doctrine, Moral and Worship exercises; eg. Examination of Conscience based on the Ten Commandments, Five Steps to a good confession

•The addition of Thought Provokers for family or group discussion;

•Theological illustrations on almost every page;

• A much more complete index to the Catechism of the Catholic Church;

• Formulas of Catholic Doctrine
