Review for Religious, published by Jesuits of the Missouri Province from 1942 through 2012, featured articles on a wide range of topics relevant to religious life. This book, the ninth in the Best of the Review series, concerns themes in St. Ignatius’s Spiritual Exercises and includes contributions to the journal Religious Review from 1997 to 2008.
The 30 essays include “The Examen of Particulars,” by Joseph A. Tetlow, S.J., which considers the Spiritual Exercises in light of the new popularity of individually directed Exercises and “developments in psychology that offer help in self–examination,” as well as “The Books That Led Ignatius to God,” by Joseph N. Tylenda, S.J., and “The Finesse at the Finish of the Exercises,” by A. Paul Dominic, S.J. Editor David L. Fleming, S.J., offers an introductory essay, “What Does It Mean ‘to Belong to God’?”
