Here's a Christian allegorical narrative about superlatives. The richest guy in the world, with the most diverse and beloved art collection in the world, has the most amazing kid, who, like his father, loves and appreciates every masterpiece they own. They enjoy exploring the worlds of their seascapes, landscapes, cityscapes, and even abstract shapes, but most of all, they treasure their portraits, which allow them to share in the lives of their subjects. The outstanding son grows in intelligence and height under the father's watchful eye and with the help of their motherly estate keeper, extending his wealth to anyone wants it. What happens to this son? And what happens to the jewels when the father decides to auction off his enormous collection? What will be the most superlative of all superlatives? The man who wins the auction for the Portrait of the Son is in for the surprise of his life, and the would-be bidders witness a miracle of conversion.

This is the long-awaited third instalment in a trilogy on The Theological Virtues—faith, hope, and love—that began with THE WEIGHT OF A MASS, A Tale of Faith, and TAKE IT TO THE QUEEN, A Tale of Hope. Theological insights regarding the text and art of this story for all ages are printed on the front and back underflaps, because the true protagonists are the Persons of the Holy Trinity, the seen and unseen world of Creation, and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A true classic for the Catholic child library!
(Calgary) | November 3rd, 2022
This book has it all! From stunning illustrations (all too hard to find now with digital renderings), to famous artwork references and a tale that children can appreciate the depth of its meaning in relation to the Catholic faith as they grow older. This collection will be at the top of my list to gift for my Catholic friends with little ones.
