Because of the simpler strokes and letter patterns used by NAC, first grade pupils may actually master beautiful cursive. NAC has been used successfully at Highlands Latin School. In first grade, any child can grasp cursive, and many of our first graders write better than typical third graders. Early cursive instruction guarantees that pupils are not slowed down or irritated in the upper grades when they are working on other subjects such as grammar and composition.
