How the Eucharist Can Save Civilization

All of the world's great civilizations have yearned for immortality.

These societies have strived to create things that would characterise them and endure forever, from inventions to enormous monuments. However, only one is eternal—God. Christendom, the flower of Western Civilization, has as its eternal defining legacy His divine flesh and blood in the Eucharist. The Eucharist must influence every aspect of our lives and society; it is more than just a belief. Indeed, this gift defined Western Civilization and enabled it to achieve its pinnacle, from hospitals to the great cathedrals.

Yet today, due to the absence of this spiritual foundation, Western civilization is on the point of disintegrating completely. We have reverted to being barbarians, lacking a lofty conception of what it is to live a good life and the pursuit of personal virtue. A return to a life that is focused on the Eucharist, however, is a the best cure.

What once propelled us to the top can once more serve as the foundation of a thriving civilisation. The Blessed Sacrament has more ability to heal the body and soul than any medication, more might than any army to vanquish our enemies, and more grace to change our civilization by first changing us. Only the Holy Eucharist, which formed the foundation of the magnificent culture of Christendom, is capable of revitalising and preserving our secular culture by bringing joy, festivity, community, and compassion into it.
