Eucharistic Gems is truly wonderful. While the book is arranged for daily reading throughout the year, I find it difficult to read just one 'gem' at a time. As Catholics, we regularly get to stand on the shoulders of giants; in this book in particular, our spirits can soar with the saints' as we ponder the source and summit of our faith. Like the Eucharist itself, Eucharistic Gems is poignantly small and surprisingly potent. It would make a great gift for multiple occasions; in fact, I look forward to giving a copy to a young friend for his ordination to the transitional diaconate later this month.
