It is likely that Thomas Aquinas wrote these comments on Jeremiah and Lamentations not long before he left Cologne to lecture in Paris in 1252. These interpretations are even more "cursory," concise, and focused on comprehending the actual sense of the text than his commentary on Isaiah. The prologues to these commentaries are written by Aquinas himself, and they explain how the literal meaning of these texts is full of written knowledge—divine wisdom that helps us achieve our goal of living properly and our ultimate goal of the glory of immortality. Collationes, groups of related biblical passages that may be used for prayer, study, or preaching, are also included in the Jeremiah commentary.
