The Church: Foundations and Mission is the fourth semester course (second semester in year 2) in the new high school curriculum Live Jesus in Our Hearts. This series offers a novel approach to the Framework blueprint, including new topics such as in-depth use of scripture, comprehensive internet resources, and an inviting, evangelistic approach.
The Church's Foundations and Mission maintains the series' commitment to combining Framework topic elements with Scripture reading and interpretation. The course investigates the Church's purpose by delving into its roots, imagery, and structure. At the same time, the study delves deeply into the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel of the Church. The words and deeds of Jesus in Matthew assist lead to a greater understanding of what it actually means to be "church." Every section also includes one or more pieces that examine Pope Francis' thoughts on what it means to be the Church in today's world.
