The Word on Fire Bible Volume III: The Pentateuch is the newest addition to a groundbreaking series that introduces readers to the fascinating and vibrant world of the Bible.

It was created to appeal not only to Christians, but also to nonbelievers, seekers, and people who have many more questions than answers.

It makes no assumptions about prior knowledge; in fact, it was written in a style designed to be understandable to individuals who may be picking up the Bible for the first time, and are unclear what to make of its many events and characters - or for any reader who wants an accessible approach to the sometimes perplexing books of the Bible.

The Pentateuch—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy—is included within this volume, surrounded by enlightening artwork and instructive commentary from Bishop Robert Barron, the Church Fathers, and some of history's greatest saints, mystics, artists, and academics. You'll learn about Origen, Teresa of Kolkata, Thomas Merton, Jerome, Hans Urs von Balthasar, Francis de Sales, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, and many more spiritual leaders.

The New Revised Standard Version: Catholic Edition (NRSV-CE) translation is used in The Word on Fire Bible, and it has earned widespread praise from academics and Church authorities. It is notable for its precision and readability, being as exact as feasible but remaining as free as necessary to convey the content in graceful, accessible English. It's an excellent translation for both individuals who have never read the Bible and those who have spent years studying it.

The Pentateuch
| June 27th, 2024
This is an excellent bible (Pentateuch) that has over 800 pages. The explanations, art work, reflections by Fathers of the Church, Bishop Barron and others are superb and really help to explain the passages. My only wish is that the print was bigger or bolder. The font used is hard to read, especially when the insert pages have a grey or beige background. The font is very small to fit into over 800 pages. When it is that small, it would be better to have a darker ink. However, I have also ordered the Acts, Epistles and Revelation edition and can't wait to read it! They are definitely "study" bibles as there is much to learn from the added commentaries. Further to my previous review, I must say that the gold stamped image on the front cover of the paperback version has partially rubbed off with frequent use over the first three weeks. I would recommend that you plasticize the front cover before you use the bible if you want the beautiful image to remain visible. It does unfortunately disappear quickly with use.
