What Is Your Will, O God? uses 27 case studies to help readers improve their ability to use the Ignatian method of seeking and finding God’s will. Many of the case studies are firsthand accounts of actual experiences, involving such questions as whether to undertake missionary work, whether to choose marriage, and how to respond to the realization that a stressful career has crowded God out of one’s life. The book begins with an example in which Ignatius himself practiced discernment as he considered whether the Society of Jesus should seek an “adequate revenue,” weighing “greater order and peace of mind” against living “in greater disregard of all worldly consolation.”
