A beautiful edition of the Psalms and select Canticles for singing, reciting, and praying with these moving passages of Sacred Scripture.

The book of Psalms offers Catholics an example of Old Testament prayer that gives eternal voice to the depth and richness of human experiences. With Psalms of hope and despair, joy and sorrow, faith and doubt, these beautiful passages of divine Revelation were prayed by Jesus, quoted by the New Testament writers, and used in the Church’s public prayer from the time of Jesus to the present day.

A translation of all 150 Psalms in addition to select Canticles from the Old and New Testaments:

The Abbey Psalms and Canticles is the fruit of more than twenty years of collaboration between the monks of Conception Abbey in Missouri, the USCCB, and the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. It presents some of the most moving passages of Sacred Scripture in an accurate and poetic translation for use by liturgy directors, composers, parish music directors, and the clergy, religious, and lay faithful in scriptural study, devotion, and prayer. This translation will also be used in future editions of English language liturgical texts, such as the Liturgy of the Hours and the Lectionary.

This brand-new edition is bound with a hard cover and adorned with gold foil stamping. It features 2 page-marking ribbons and arrives in a beautiful, 2-piece box. Its superior craftsmanship will make it a lasting companion.

This edition of The Abbey Psalms and Canticles also features:

  • Colored tabs at the top of each page for easy navigation
  • Carefully designed pages to make each page readable, organized, and inviting
  • A document summary explaining the intended audience, the document's origin, and the purpose it seeks to serve within the mission of the Church
  • The official text of this work prepared by the monks of Conception Abbey, approved by the USCCB, and confirmed by the Vatican's Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments

This edition is part of The USCCB Collection from Ascension, which features official documents from the United States bishops previously published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
