Mother Bolton, a member of the Cenacle of St. Regis in New York, started developing curriculum for the education of novices about 1912. Eventually, she used them to educate both youngsters and those who would go on to teach religion.
As a result of these efforts, we provide The Spiritual Way, a series written for students in Third through Seventh Grade. This series tries to lead the child to think critically about each of the twenty essential principles of the Church, from the Creation and Fall through the Church and her Sacraments. Therefore, young people will comprehend, love, and put into practice dogma if they learn to think and express it in their own words.
God is presented in Book 1 as the Creator, the Father, and the Almighty; He is the One Whose Light can Solve the Problems of All People, establishing a stable basis for spiritual truth.
In Book 2, these themes are expanded upon: Man and God's purpose for him; the results of grace; Original and Actual Sin; the Ten Commandments; the Four Last Things; and the end of the world.
Moving from the familiar to the unfamiliar, Book 3 delves into the potential of the invisible soul, the Trinity's mystery, our Redemption, and its continuance in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Sacramental instruction and the Church, its conduit, take the stage in Book Four. It's a great way to be ready for the Confirmation sacrament.
