When youthful St. Thomas received his licence to teach in Paris in 1256, he gave the first lectures Rigans Montes and Hic est liber. They discuss the transmission of Sacred Doctrine as a whole, with the second lecture focusing specifically on Sacred Scripture and culminating with a division of its passages. Thomas's Commentary on the Psalms, on the other hand, is likely to be the reportatio of one of his final lectures (c. 1253), which was never finished; despite this dense report may be limited to the fundamentals of Thomas's teaching, it is nonetheless crammed with profound, rich expository material.
