In 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego, a humble farmer on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City, instructing him to seek the bishop's approval for a temple. Despite initial skepticism, Mary persisted, guiding Juan to gather roses miraculously blooming out of season. When presented to the bishop, Juan's tilma, or cloak, revealed a stunning image of Our Lady. Convinced of its divine origin, the bishop sanctioned the temple's construction. Miracles associated with the tilma persist, displayed at the basilica.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, as Patroness of the National Eucharistic Revival, fosters joy, reverence, and unity. Her image serves as a profound catechesis, leading hearts to a deeper connection with Jesus. Through her intercession, she heals, unites, and guides believers to a deeper union with Christ, embodying the Star of the New Evangelization. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!
