Gianna Beretta Molla was born October 4th, 1922 in Italy to a devoted Catholic family. In 1949 Gianna received her doctoral degree and became a missionary of love in her daily duties as a wife, mother and physician.
Her faith was put to the test by complications while she was expecting her fourth child. When given the option, she decided to keep the pregnancy and said to her husband just before giving delivery, "If you have to choose between me and the baby, do not hesitate; I demand it, the child, save it." St. Gianna heroically gave her life to save her daughter.
She is frequently shown smiling with her kids while leading a courageous, joyful, and strong life. "Whatever God Wants" is her famous quote, and it is also printed on the socks in her name.
